The GA-map® Dysbiosis Test was used for microbiota determinations of the effects of high intake of cod or salmon

In a study published on the 27 October 2020 from Haukeland University Hospital the effects of high intake of cod or salmon on gut microbiota profile was investigated. 76 adults with overweight/obesity were randomly assigned to consume 750 g/week of either cod or salmon, or to avoid fish intake (control group) for 8 weeks. The GA-map® Dysbiosis Test was used for microbiota determinations before and after the fish intake.

The study concluded that a high intake of cod or salmon fillet modulated the gut microbiota compared to the control group. In addition, salmon showed to have a positive impact on lowering blood glucose in these patients.
